Cutlass Express - 24
- It is a multinational maritime exercise.
- In Cutlass Express 2024, the Indian Navy actively collaborated with participants from 16 friendly foreign countries. Having joined the exercise in 2019, the Indian Navy continues to play an integral role in this initiative.
- Implemented in coastal regions of East Africa and the West Indian Ocean, this exercise aims to counteract malign influence, aggression, and activities within overlapping command areas and maritime regions.
- Sponsored by U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) and led by U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa/U.S. Sixth Fleet.
- Bringing together maritime forces from East Africa, nations of the West Indian Ocean, Europe, North America, and various international organizations, the exercise focuses on enhancing maritime law enforcement capabilities, promoting national and regional security, and improving interoperability among participating nations.
- The training covers theoretical and practical aspects of Maritime Interdiction Operations, Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) procedures, and diving operations. During the sea phase, the ship’s VBSS team conducted boarding operations on the Seychelles Coast Guard (SCG) ship LE Vigilant, demonstrating the procedures involved.
